RUT ROH! Anybody ever WORMED themselves??

Well, they have hulls which I guess you could consider that shells. I eat the whole thing, hull and all; cuz they just don't have enough meat in them without it and I'm a saltaholic.

Kat - has been doubly wormed!

That's what I meant. They were so good, think I just ate way too many at once.

I used to work a lot with elderly people. Many with constipation issues. We used to make a natural laxative out of fruit and tea. I developed a recipe making it into cookies. Some good stories there as well.

I'm with Ngt Angl on this one. Hoping that my tapeworm weighed at least 20 lbs., so I will lose at least that much!

Kat - Been dieting w/DH for 2 months. DH - 30 lbs. of weight loss. Kat - a big fat ZERO.

You'll be fine! I've had a little wormer here and there and accidentally gave my son and me both a tetanus shot last summer. (had an especially rowdy goat I was trying to give meds to.) We're worm free and up-to-date on our vaccines LOL!

Pretty much all dewormers we use in animals are safe for human use and could be obtained in an approved form for humans from a doctor. Some people even deworm themselves using pet or livestock dewormers and measure the dose out for humans. Before anyone actually tries this the danger here is that the dewormers contain inactive ingredients that may not be approved for use in humans due to a high chance of allergic reactions or similar. A bottle of ivermectin is not just 100% pure ivermectin. It's more like 1-2% ivermectin and 98-99% suspension solution. A paste dewormer is not 100% of whatever chemical dewormer. The dosage on large livestock dewormers may also not be accurate enough for our much lighter body weights especially if the dose per kg has to be lower. When we use liquid livestock ivermectin on guinea pigs the dose is the same but the body weight is so much different we have to dilute it again by half to 1/4 the strength in order to accurately measure. Messing up a calculation could kill you. Otherwise if you get a little in or on you it's not dangerous unless you have a severe allergic reaction to something else in the dewormer. Ivermectin is one of the safest of the dewormer chemicals for most animals and you can often give several times the recommended dose with no side effects. Despite that the only way to get most dewormer for humans in this country is to go to a doctor for a script and they dislike diagnosing parasites even though it is extremely common. Which is why many resort to taking risks with dewormers sold for animals.

I've tasted horse wormers intentionally, does that count? (I have this weird Lipizzaner cross who thinks wormer [except moxidectin] is a tasty treat, and I was curious

)

Also have used, pooh, forget which one, not ivermectin, for pinworms in self after doing some careful math to match published dosage for humans. I'm not recommending this to others but it did work. No neighing or mooing either <g>
