Good luck on your project. You seem to love those chicks. Re: walnut comb.I personally like them a lot more than single. These are your chicks and your project, you should strive to achieve what looks good to you.

11 out of 19 chicks i kept were frizzles. I'M not sure if I should try and sort comb types now, or wait until i start culling the boys at around 18 weeks old.
I will probably cull out anything that is not a frizzle hen at that point, except for my 4 colours of mumma silkies and whoever we keep as pets.
Next job is to get some fertile RIR and LAV Ara eggs to hatch.

I candled the eggs my broodies have. 11 are showing good development. The ones in the incubator are up to day 6 so they will be candled and counted soon. I have only 4 laying at the minute. Cuddles and Streaks are sitting on the eggs. Shadows and Little Lady are busy teaching the chicks, and KC went Broody, and is back to normal but hasn't resumed laying.
I'm yet to see an egg from Diamond or snowy. Ill have to remember to get pics to check if she might be a rooster, although hasn't crowed either.

About to do the second candleding of the eggs in the incubator and setup the incubator for lockdown tomorrow.
In the meantime - the chicks I sold, plus the newset hatches out with the broodies.
