I don't think so. I have BTW japs, and they don't have any grey on their bodies. They have black on their tails and wing tips.

Please don't think I'm being a turd, but I don't think that they are Japanese. Their legs are too long and their tails are not at the right angle. Let me see if I can figure out what they are for you.

I think that they be an OEGB and Japanese mix. What do you think, shelleyd2008?

Oh interesting find, the breeder who gave me these chickens told me they are japanese bantams. Please let me know if they are mixes or not!! Tho could it be that some pics they're stretching their leg forward/ or picture angle? Also The Rooster's tail might be a tad funky...one of my dogs grabbed a chunk of his tail off

If you need shall i try to get better pictures?

It is possible for the rooster to be japanese and have long legs. Short legs is recessive in japs, something that has to be tried for very hard! Plus it is a lethal gene. Now the hen, she doesn't look like a japanese. The shape of her tail does look like she might be OEGB. Let me find some pics of my OEGB and japs and show you.

But the roo does look like a jap, or at least partly. brb

Wow! I have way too many pictures!!

Ok, sorry, but these pics are not the greatest. This one has an OEGB pullet in the bottom left corner

And this one has a young BTW jap cockerel in it.

Notice the difference in the tails?

And here is a pic with an OEGB cockerel on the left (black) (actually, that one looks like a dutch, but same thing basically with the tails

Here's another one with japs and OEGB in it The one in front is a pullet, middle is cockerel (BTW jap), 2nd from left OEGB cockerel, and the one in the back is also a BTW cockerel. These are all about the same age as each other too.

Ok, one more with a bunch of young OEGB. They didn't have their long tail feathers yet. Excuse the junk, we live at my dad's right now

None of these are very good pics. Sorry about that.

Hope this helps

Hey..just wanted to let you know I think you may have a cross on your hands?? It is hard to tell for sure from the pics, but the birds seem very very leggy for Japanese bantams. Also, they are not colored the way Black tailed whites are colored. I would consider this more of a mottled. Here are a pic of my Black tailed whites if this helps.

The legs should be less than an inch, some people say less than 3/4 of an inch. You generally can't even see their legs on SQ birds. Not trying to burst your bubble, as your chickies are cute, just thought you'd like some more info.

Good luck!!

Leah

Another thing I have noticed is that it seems that all japs have yellow legs? My OEGB have varying leg color, it depends on what color their feathering is. My whites and red pyles have white or pinkish legs, and my blues have slate legs.
But my BTW japs are not SQ, and their legs are over 1 inch. But it is obvious that they are japs.
