Sad Bad Day Please advise - Graphic Photos!!!

Oh poor poor babies-that is so very horrible.
I hope you will be ok and you work things out with the seller so you are treated more than fair.
That's an awful shock, for them, and for the hopes you had for them.
I am so sorry.

Putting myself in your shoes, I would NOT send him chicks. Absolutely not. And I would definitely demand a refund. That was ignorance on his part, anyway!

Those poor birds. It just broke my heart to see them and read this thread. I wouldn't send him a thing. He doesn't deserve to have animals at all in my opinion.

That is horrible!

I just sold two silver pencilled wyandottes to a lady in CA. The box I intended to ship in was too small for the two birds (let alone four), so I had to send them in a swan box. Of course it weighed more and the box cost more, but the birds are alive and well.

There is a weight limit on those boxes too, what were they thinking? The narrower box is 8lbs including the box weight which is what I use.

I wouldn't send that person anything off my farm. I would just offer to pay them postage on the weight of the surviving bird only since he still has your box.

I would also be concerned about the blood and quarantine that bird. Can you tell where the blood came from?

ETA: I checked on that specific box and if it is an "Economy Nest" it only holds 10 lbs of birds and it was way overloaded. Those wyandottes weighed at least 6-7 lbs each. How much did the box weigh? You can find it on the shipping label.
