Sad day. Foxes got all our ducks and my son is heart-broken

I'm sorry, it's a hard lesson learned he won't forget. Like others are saying though if you were closer and wanted mutts though, boy do I have a ton of Mallard/Runner crosses and more coming!

Yes, that's the worst of it. We DO have a chain link fence surrounding the coops and the ducks were trained to go inside the enclosure at night for protection. Kids being kids he gave the gate a lick and a promise which turned out for the worst. Yesterday afternoon paw-paw installed some barbed wire on our exterior fence, top and bottom, and he spent the afternoon target practicing. I'm hoping the wire will at least slow them down enough so we can get get in a good shot. Sounds like they can scale fences like my neighbor's German Shepherd. I don't see anything in our city ordinance saying that you can't kill a predator (just notes about native birds). Thanks for the excellent advice, nice sentiments and insight - just can't find it anywhere else. Tomorrow we head to Wal-mart for a pellet gun at closeout prices!
