If you go to the forum Where am I ? Where are you ?, click on the okies link, there are a lot of people in oklahoma on BYC, depending on what part of oklahoma you are in, you may find a close by ' okie neighbor ' to buy some chicks, or chickens from. Heck, i have way more of the chicks and chickens than i need myself.

Awesome idea, Lynn. We are in OK too (Tulsa area) and are ALMOST ready to get chicks- just need to build a coop LOL! But that is a great place to look when we are ready since we've missed most stores "chick season".

Sadly, my yard is becoming Fort Knox because of predators. I have chain link around a perimeter that is 6 foot high, 6 foot chain link around the chicken yard and the coop is built with hardware cloth otherwise known as rabbit wire. I have been fortunate not to lose anymore. We have dogs, snakes, hawks and owls, coyotes, coons and other animals that will kill them so I went all out in protecting them because it is so heartbreaking to lose them that way after raising them from baby chicks.

Thank you all for your help and advise. I was able to find some on Craigslist and plan to keep them in a horse stall until I can prepare a proper and safe place for them.
