because she died in the coop. i poured more pineshavings, in and around the area, that she was found. its late here in ct. now. is there something else i should be doing? what about the eggs she might have layed today? do i discard them.
That's so sad. I've had that happen when a chicken is perfectly healthy and then gone before the day is over. I lost my beautiful blue silkie that way.
sorry for your loss, Im still worried about my sick chookychan, hope you have lots of understanding freinds and family to console you. Dont know about your area, but in ours unexplained deaths like this (if free ranging) are sometimes snake bite.
my one that passed today was inseperable with a tiny runt little game hen. She wandered around calling out all afternoon and didn't want to go up tonight. I think she was looking for her. I think they know and mourn too.
