Could you keep him inside until it's light out or until the "bad" neighbours go to work or whatever?

Nasty neighbors stink. One of my girls turned out to be a boy, which was out of the question for my mom, but I too got attatched. I suggested to my mom that we wait and see, and if the crowing is really bothersome, then we'll figure something else out. Maybe you could try something like that with your neighbors? If nothing works out than maybe like others suggested you'll be able to find a nice home for him.

Great looking guy... sounds like there are ways to work around the "jerk" neighbors...

Before you make up your mind to give him back to the hatchery or find him a new home, get answers to the following questions...

Do you have a Home Owners Association? If so, check a copy of the by-laws regarding farm animals. If there is a rule against raising farm animals, you have an answer about the rooster who will give your girls away and get you in trouble with fines and liens (sp?).

If you do not have a Home Owners Association, tell the "jerk" neighbor to wear ear plugs and deal with a crowing rooster.

Like the other BYC poster said, if they don't pay your taxes, bills or raise your kids... tell them to take a hike.

there is no HOA wher i live, im in the unincorporated country area. I can have all teh chickens and roos i want, leagaly. My neighbor doesnt work so they are home all day. She is an alcoholic and has nothing else to do all day but sit on her porch and watch what her neighbors are doing. She make all our lives quite difficult. Very very unpleasant woman! My chickens are a source of relaxation for me and i would hate for them to be a cause for her to focus on me or the chickens for added misery!

I vote to keep him too!
If they don't like it, who cares? What have you got to be afraid of, except someone being upset with you who already doesn't like you anyway? Who knows, maybe you could get them to think about living somewhere else, and then all your other neighbors would be grateful.

if you live in the country and can have anything tell the neighbor that yeah instead of the chickens your just going to get PIGS cause they are way more quiet!
