Hello Everyone!

After a ten year dream of wanting to own chickens...I finally have my three baby chicks!

Two are doing fabulously but one of them has ended up with a case of pasty butt. I have managed to get the vent clear last night, but the lil guy is still pretty sad about life this morning. Any clue what I can do to help him out or when I can expect him to perk up?
He isnt eating or drinking much at all.

Poor little guy! Did you gently wash the poo from his bum, or just pull it off? If you pulled it off, he may be sore due to the loss of some tail feathers. Soothe his bottom with a smear of vaseline if his bottom looks bare, red or raw. That might help. Otherwise, if you washed him, could he have gotten chilled? Try giving them some probiotics or electrolytes to give them a litle boost.

We washed him really gently with warm water and a Q tip...Even dried him with a dry cloth afterward. We can see his vent "puckering"...I don't know if that means anything.
Thank you for the advise on the vaseline and probiotics/electrolytes.

@Eggcessive might know if the vent puckering is significant, like if it means he's constipated or anything. Are you feeding him anything other than chick starter? If you are, you need to supply chick grit for them first.
