this is cesar a VISCOUS bull terrier his best playmate is a tiny toy poodle
he lets my cats slap him in the face and walks away
he allows 2 day old button quail to walk all over him
allows strangers 2 year olds take meaty bones out of his mouth
allows one year old babies to use him to learn to stand
ignores wild bunny rabbits, squirles, chipmunks in the yard while hes outside
now let me ask you is he the exception? absolutly not! his mother and father were pretty much the same living in a household with 3 babies 2 newborns and one toddler
its the owners NOT the breed of dog! please let me just say to people who are afraid of pit bulls or other bully breeds dont be! so many people are afraid of cesar when hes such a gentle dog! obviously im not saying go and hug strange dogs! but dont see one and automatically think there viscious! he never gets into small childrens faces or jumps on them while walking down the street hes had little children come up and give him a hug and he jsut loves it! i baby sit little kids and babies and he just adores them if they take one of his toys from him he waits patently for them to hand them back never grabs or gets excited.
BUT like any dog accedents can happen! and even though i trust cesar 100 percent i would never ever allow him to be left alone with a child of any age or unattended with any small animal but so far ive never had to correct him with being aggressive toward children or other aniamls.
also i would just like to input the reason there so many bully breed attacks? becuase
#1 these are dogs with high energy levels when people dont allow the dogs to drain there energy in proper ways every single day they are asking for trouble just like a hyper child is more likly to fight with there siblings or get into trouble so its the same with dogs.
#2 bully breeds do have the tendancy to be more domineering meaning that people who are inconsistant with leadership or who want a dog when its conveniet for them then ignore it the rest of the day is going to keep this dogs mind set at "dominant" meaning its not going to listen unles it wants too.
#3 bully breeds are usuallly more stubborn or pig headed meaning again without consistancy from an owner theres no controling a dog EVERY time bully breeds will push your buttons thats the way they are and you have to be strong enough to push back EVERY time even if they push you 100 times per day for the rest of its life you as the owner has to be ready and prepared to PUSH back 100 times per day for the rest of that dogs life.
and let me just say in EVERY litter of puppies no matter the breed theres ALWAYS a dominant puppy a puppy who is pig headed, stubborn, higher energy then the others labs, poodles, terriers, pit bulls, german shepards,EVERY breed who needs those same consistant leadership and rules from its owner and without it is an acedent waiting to happen.
im sure some people are asking "well then how come theres sooo many pit bull attacks? becuase theres not many people who realize what pitbulls need and even more who really dont care becuase they wanna look tough they grow up with sweet mellow labs, collies, and mixed breeds and think "well ive had alot of experience with dogs i should save a pit bull" bring this dog home expecting to have it completly trained by a year old like there other dogs only to find out hey this dog is still like an adolecent and at times acts like its never had a single day of training in its life" yes people want to do good i appreciate that but people really need to talk to long time pit owners it takes an iron will to live with even one of these dogs much less having htem around your kids or your other dogs or pets. of coarse some people get a pit mix who is calm and quite and good natured and think "well this is easy i should get a pure bred one" only to have this new one be the typical pit hyper, rowdy and bull headed. some pit owners will tell you "oh these dogs are easy to care for" but ill bet you anything that these people are naturally active owners who are naturally assertive and strong willed so of coarse its easy for them.
