I was wondering when saddle feathers (I hope I am using the correct terminology here) start to show. I am 95% sure that my two boys are boys but my husband is in love with all my chickens and doesn't want to get rid of any. From what I have heard you can't really have two roos comfortably with only 8 hens so we are definitely going to have to rehome one if they're both boys. He will not believe me that they are both boys but insists we wait until we know 100%. I told him if we want a good home we should look now because once they start crowing they'll have to go ASAP and we may not be able to find a good home. Anyway, I need to be able to prove to him 100% that they are both boys (he's convinced of one, but not the other) I have heard saddle feathers are a good way to know for sure, but being new to chickens, I don't have "the eye." (Nor do I really know what I'm supposed to be looking for.) I looked on their back near the base of their tail and showed him that there are more feathers coming in there but he showed me they ALL have feathers coming in there. Anyway, help would be appreciated. If I knew where to look I could take some pictures and post them even sometime tomorrow. Thanks ahead of time! BTW, the ones in question are a BR (easier to tell) and a Light Brahma both a little over 9 weeks old.
