Saddles for quail?

I have had a male button quail alone for years because I was unable to find a mate for him. I recently got a female and Bobo promptly scalped her and she has no feathers on her back. It's not too bad; the top of her head has a scab but it seems to be healing and I think some down is growing back in on her back. She's eating and drinking well, so I'm not too worried about her. Bobo is now in a wire enclosure inside of the wood and plexiglass cage so he cannot hurt her.
So I was thinking that maybe I could make a tiny version of a chicken saddle so it doesn't happen again

But I don't know if she would react well to it seeing as buttons are super skittish and paranoid.
So, do you think a saddle would freak out a button quail? Would it impair her movement? Button quail, or at least my button quail, are really active and run around the cage all day. Not even foraging or anything, just pacing...

I might actually try it

It would look incredibly silly... I dunno, I'll have to figure out how to make it small enough! Sometimes if I'm moving Bobo to a different cage or something he just slips out of my hand; he looks so much bigger than he actually is with his feathers.

Do it I'd love to see it. Make it from the camo pattern. Use elastic with no snaps I bet it will work.I usually just cull mine but if their your pets than you gotta fixs him. I have saddles on my chickens because they peck each other now they just pick other areas my chickens look like they have been to World War Three but they lay eggs.

I wanted to cull him after he did that

but it's not all that bad, she's already growing back some feathers. I think he was just excited to have a lady-friend after 3 years alone

I'll probably work on it later. I've actually got some elastic and fabric scraps around here somewhere

Button quail saddle = not a very good idea. All it did was freak her out because I was holding her... it was too big, too

N.C Chicken Owner - She's not a coturnix or bobwhite quail, she's a button quail. They're less than half the size of coturnix, so I don't think a bantam size would fit
