Saddles over a bare back treated with Pine Tar

Is there any reason I shouldn't put the saddles back on the girls treated with pine tar?

I've done it with no poor effects except that it destroyed the saddles.

Thanks. I'm concerned about adding sunburn to the backs too. Does the pine tar help protect damaged skin from UV light?

I couldn't tell you that. Probably, but I can't say for sure.

Thank you for responding. The pine tar is almost off on the shoulder blades so I'll try it again tonight. I am amazed though that after only a day, some of the reddest parts aren't quite as red anymore.

I have decided to cull my rooster as he just seems to be too rowdy. I have 7 of his chicks that were just hatched with some other straight run so its time to give another rooster a chance at a very good year and a half of life.

I'm going to try the duct tape on the shoulder blades as the saddles just don't completely cover them.
