I have three Chinese White geese and one sassy gander named George. George's girls are Sadie, Penelope and Lucy. Of course you have to have a Lucy goosie don't you.
Anyway Sadie has been thinking she wants to set eggs since mid December. I keep my birds laying until after the holiday egg rush and then sent them into molt in January, so they haven't been laying for about a month. The ducks they live with, however, are Khaki Campbells and they can't seem to figure out how to stop. So on Saturday my son forgot to pick up the eggs in the morning and on Sunday we were busy so I forgot. This morning I let them out and Sadie didn't come out of the house. I hollered for George and he brought the ducks and geese down to the water hydrant where I fill their bucket every morning. Still no Sadie. I let the turkeys out and played with them for a while. Still no Sadie. So I went to take a peek. She hissed so much she should have deflated. I just didn't have the heart to take those eggs away. She is sitting on I'm sure 9 Khaki Campbell eggs. So Sadie will finally get to be a momma. But what a surprise it's gonna be when they hatch. I bet Georgie is gonna be looking long and hard at those two drakes wondering how come those babies don't look like him.
