Safe cleaner to disinfect feeders/waterers with?

Do you think I could spray my waterers and feeders with regular ACV every time I refill? Would it even disinfect anything if it was on there for a few seconds?

it is ether or ethanol but I can only find it for cleaning wounds on google , which I find odd because I have known that it was also used to desinfect large areas but I can't find any more details of it . So I guess it might be best to use something with certain vinigars like well yes Alcohol is desinfecting , you should be able to buy that as a cleaner usually , not the one from 70% but like more pure alcohol ...

What about the stuff that they use in delis to clean dishes and counters. I think it's food-grade. How would I find out what that stuff is? Maybe I should go ask a deli clerk.

Why didn't you ask her?

I keep a little bottle of liquid Dawn out by my coop. It's handy for cleaning waterers, as well as hands, and other equipment. Sometimes, I might even have a rag handy. Most of the time, I simply pull a fist full of grass or Creeping Charlie, and use that as a scrubby for the waterers. I don't sweat a bit of dirt. If the waterers need to be soap washed, I do so, but often they are fine just to rinse and refill. It all depends on how warm it has been and if the waterers get enough sunshine to encourage algae growth.

Yeah, I should have asked...I wasn't really thinking about my chickens at the time.

I don't know why I didn't think of using dish soap. Thanks!

I scrub out my waterers with a little bit of Dawn dish soap and a long handled scrub brush and just make sure I rinse them well before refilling. I also use ACV in the water as that is said to help prevent algae growth and be good for the chickens.
