safe to eat turkey ?

We culled a turkey to eat. He has had a foamy eye for a couple days now. No sneezing , coughing, abnormal stools, odd behaviours. Yes I realized I should of asked this first. I just thought about it after the fact that he may not be safe to eat.

A lot of diseases aren't directly transferrable to humans.
However, I assume you aren't eating the turkey raw. Cooking to temperature will kill any bacteria or virus that afflicted the bird.

yes he will be cooked until well done.
Second question. Has anyone deep fried a 60 pounds bird? The biggest I have ever done was 25. I didn't realize my birds had gotten that big

I haven't but is your fryer big enough for a bird that size?
You could part the bird out first and that would prevent the explosion when 60 lbs. of poultry is dropped into a fryer overfull of oil.

Have to ask, what does a 60 pound turkey look like? Before being culled, or processed picture would be welcomed. Just trying to visualize how large that would be.

we have a huge pot for doing crawfish boils. I keep the oil from over flowing by putting the turkey in and filling with water then taking the turkey out. I measure the gallons of of water and buy that much peanut oil
