We split an order of Buff Orp chicks with a friend 3 weeks ago...last week something got into their barn and killed 13 of their 15 chicks unfortunately.

She is wondering if we would like to take these 2 chicks back and put them in with ours...they are completely healthy.

I am wondering if this is safe to do? They came in the same order but might these 2 have been exposed to something that ours haven't been exposed to and then may get ours sick?????

This is only our 2nd year doing this and so pretty new to something like this....dont want to do something that would be risky.

Thank you!!

Jen

you could quarantine the two chicks for a bit if you are worried about disease. Otherwise I'd put them in and see how your other chicks behave towards them. They will probably accept them OK at that age but if not you may have to separate them out with some wire so the two groups can see each other but will not pick on each other. Then after a while you can try taking out the divider again.
