My husband and I are first time chicken owners, and we have four chicks that we're hoping to put outside in the next few days. We plan on putting them in their coop (about 16sq foot coop) and keeping them in it for a few days to a week (I'm currently due with our first baby literally any day now, so we'd love to get them out before then!) before letting them go in the enclosed 10x10 run we have for them.

We have two Sapphire Sky chicks and two Silver Laced Wyandottes (picture for reference). We believe the Sapphire sky are about 7 weeks old, and the Wyandottes should be about 6 weeks. They haven't had a heat plate for about a week and a half now, and even before then, they were never around it, even when we first got them.

In terms of weather, the coldest we have coming up is in a few days when it will dip to 50 degrees at night. The rest of the time is 60ish at night and 70-80 during the day.

Should the four chicks be fine out there? They all definitely seem ready to get into a bigger area!

Yep they’ll be grand. I have some four day old chicks with a broody momma and during the day they are running all over and just go tuck themselves under her when they get cold. So since yours are well feathered by this point and also have siblings to snuggle with when chilly at night, all will be well.

Yes, provided they can get out of a direct wind.

I've had chicks younger than them go through nights in the mid 20's Fahrenheit with no supplemental heat. I don't anticipate they would have any problems.
