Safe to take chicks across state Lines?

I have a friend who offered to bring a few chicks with her from TN. I don't know if it would be good to bring them across state lines or even if its legal. I am afraid they may bring some disease or invasive insects. I don't know if this should be a woryy or not? Any advise would be appreciated.

Chickens and chicks are shipped all the time. The important thing to remember is to isolate them from your flock for a couple weeks, just like you should with birds from an auction or down the road. That gives them time to display anything that might be amiss.
