Safeguard????

If I am not seeing worms in the stools but am going to do a 5 day corid treatment( I saw bloody stools) can I partner that treatment w/ the Safeguard just as a preventative? I am new to flock raising and don't want to do the wrong things but want my birds to be healthy. Would the 1/2 cc dose be accurate for 20oz bantam along w/ 4 to 5 # laying hens? Also what is the withdrawal on eggs. I saw on the corid thread that people wait at least 4 days after the last day of treatment.
Thank you

The dose I use is 0.23 per pound, which is 50 mg/kg. Your 20 ouncer is 0.6 kg (600 grams), so the dose is 0.3 ml for that one. Four pounds gets 0.9 ml, five gets 1.14 ml.

Here's where it gets tricky... A single day dose that gets repeated in 10 days will treat large roundworms and cecal worms, but it will not treat capillary worms. Capillary worms require 5 consecutive days of treatment.

Would be best to gather up a bunch of fresh poop, place in baggie, stir well, and have vet do a fecal float.
