Sunny, the brave one, will sit the closest to my lap. I'd kind of like a lap chicken...

Button is the next most brave. DH calls her Xena (after the TV show). He's referred to the group of five as "Xena and the Rowdies." :lau

They're 4 weeks old tomorrow.

They're loosing the chick fluff/cuteness and getting to the awkward teenage stage. I find that time cute in its own way. Heads pop up, eyes look around, and there's a curiousness in their eyes that I find endearing.

The four Bielefelders have two subtly different colorations. Two are more red, the other two are more dun/greyish. Eager to see how they feather out as they grow.

Huddle box. Nobody's gone inside yet. It will go out with them to the coop. I'm going to wait 2-3 more nights before I turn off the heat plate. After a couple nights with it off, I'll take it out of there.

Wednesday is the day set aside for the coop add-on build. I'm planning that Sunday will be moving day. (Saturday is Michigan Chickenstock.) That gives me a few days to get the separation fence up in the coop and run for the "look, don't touch" integration period.

If it's like the last integration, it'll be, "look, don't touch, but Lark will do her best to peck through the fence." Unless someone else wants to be The Mean Girl this time.

The sweet potato slips are hanging in there. I think a couple are going to call it quits, but they did send 5 extra.

Friday, I planted a row of Dragon Tongue bush beans. I'll plant more in a couple weeks. Dragon Tongue have been far and away my best bean producer. They're a wax type, but they can also be used as a dry bean. I haven't saved any for that, because I want them all to freeze for during the winter.

I planted all the rest of the onion sets that weren't mushy. They're Red Baron, DH's favorite. I also dug up the missed onions and garlic from last year's garden. Those are drying on racks in the garage.
