Well, what with all the do's and don't do's, we'll all be dead before too long anyway
Mad cow disease - stop eating beef
Foot and mouth disease - stop eating lamb and mutton
Chicken/bird flu - stop eating poultry
Swine flu - stop eating pork
High mercury levels in the oceans - stop eating fish
Polluted rivers and lakes - stop eating fresh water fish
Pesticides and fertilizers - stop eating fruit and vegetables
I had better start digging my grave because with nothing to eat or drink, I don't have long left to go
I've been eating eggs with runny yolks for almost 50 years, and I'm yet to get sick, and unless I do, and I die, I will continue eating my eggs that way.
As others have pointed out, we need to allow our bodies to build up immunity. The more "protected" your life is, the more at risk you are. I don't always remember to was my hands every time I touch an egg. Hell, I touch my goat, my dogs, my chickens all the time. If I kept running back inside to wash my hands, I wouldn't get anything done. I have two young girls aged 3 and 5. Have you ever tried to prevent kids from putting their hand near their mouth, irrespective of what they've been touching? My Dad always used to say......."what doesn't kill, will only fatten"
I remember taking my one girl to the doctor about a year ago when she was running a fever and throwing up. Of course I was worried, just as any parent would be. The doctor took a look and said he should just tell us to go back home because it will pass, but that if he said things like that to people, they would think he's a bad doctor. Like he said, kids touch anything and everything, and unless you tie their hands behind their backs, they will put their hand by their mouth, and so obviously they get sick from time to time because of it. But, if they didn't do this, their bodies would not build up an immunity to such things.
In any case, this has nothing to do with the current outbreak, but I'm just saying people in general have become paranoid as far as germs are concerned.
