This morning I found a small lash egg in my chickens poop this morning. She has been laying soft shelled and thin shelled eggs for the last few months. She is a 4 yr old BAxRIR hen The egg was 1.2 cm in length and when I cut it open, there was white hardened pus inside it, there were no layers to it. She has been losing energy gradually for the past few weeks. Her poops are watery, the urates is pale mustard coloured and mucusy. Her appetite is decreasing, she has random bursts of alertness and appetite but then shortly returns to being lethargic. Does this sound like salpingitis? Did you already supplement with additional Calcium+VitD+VitK?

And yes, this sounds like a severe issue of the reproductive system which might have got started by lash eggs/lack of calcium.

As this is already going on for some months and she is declining, I would end the misery. These problems usually have no real cure if not treated right from the early signs.

Yes, I think that she sounds like she may have salpingitis. It is very common in layers. Antibiotics can seldom help this far along. Is she eating and drinking, and going out to join her flock outside? You will be the judge of when she might be suffering. I would suggest doing a necropsy on her to look inside at ber abdominal organs when she dies. It helps so much to understand what was going on. Ascites is very common as well when there is reproductive infection. Take pictures and post them here for comments if you do a necropsy. Sorry that your hen may be nearing the end.
