We have just recently started keeping backyard chickens. I grew up raising them and I was super excited to find out that we can have chickens in our city (just no rooster). In April we bought four chicks- 1 Rhode island Red, 1 Light Brahma, 1 Speckled Sussex, and 1 Ameraucana (Easter Egger). I fell In love instantly and have decided I can never go back to being chicken-less. My girls are now about 6months old and I am finally seeing some beautiful brown eggs. There seems to be a lot to know about chickens and I am relieved to be able to have others to ask questions to and get feed back from. Happy chicken raising everyone!!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. You have a nice mixed flock. The first breed that I ever had (about 50 years ago) wre Light Brahmas and they were gentle giants. We had Speckled Sussex when my children were growing up and they made lap pets of them, and the our Easter Eggers are my granddaughter's favorites. She loves their colored eggs. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.
