Same breed?

I’m curious if these chicks are the same breed bc they look so different to me! They’re supposed to be blue langshans But I’m not sure how much variance there is in this breed. One has gray feet with a black face no white and all over blue/gray and the other has white markings everywhere with pink feet. Both have feathers on their feet so they probably are the same but curious about others opinions/experiences since I’m so new!

I would say that they are the same breed as although they look slightly different they have the same shape in general, same beak colour and their tail feathers are the same.

Depending on the breeding.. Blue only breeds true 50%.

If you (they) are breeding blue to blue... you will get 50% blue, 25% black, and 25% splash.

Only by breeding splash to black can you guarantee 100% blue birds... but then they will be a variety of shades of blue... some darker, some lighter, and no consistency. Are you in the US? Which hatchery are they from?

I would suspect they are the same breed with different phenotype's (genes expressing visually)... the one with light toes.. maybe splash for example. Once a breeder is familiar with the different chick phenotype's their birds produce they may be able to discern which are keepers verses cull right at hatch... as certain things will grow out certain ways.

So the case here is either the grey will be blue and the lighter one will be splash... or they will BOTH be blue but different shades... According to what little understanding I do have after ALL these years of learning and practicing.

It would be so cool if you reported back with pics of the final outcome!

Thank you! That is all so interesting and exciting! It’s like waiting for Christmas haha I’ll be doing more research now! I got them from a small local family owned feed store and they picked them out for me because I wasn’t able to go inside. So I always questioned if they picked from the same bucket. I kept thinking the all gray looked like it was some kind of muran or some cross bc the feathered feet only go down so many roads. I was supposed to get barred rock but there was a guy in front of me who purchased all 25 pullets that they had. This grab bag variety is way too much fun!

Their shape is very similar and they’re always side by side. It’s so cute. I’m hoping the dark one isn’t a cockerel bc it always has the neck up stance. I think I need to do more research on this breed!

Here they are as they’re growing! It’s been fun. I love that they look totally different.
