San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Hey San Diegans! Does anyone know someone who slaughters and processes chickens? I have some Barbezieux that will be ready in a month or two. Thanks for the info

There are a couple on this list. Maybe they will chime in.

I Have been wanting to take a processing classe myself.

Same here. I don't have to gear though so looking for someone local who can do it. I have seen an ad for someone up in Perris, might end up going there in a month or two, but would rather not have to drive so far.

Hi

They process chickens out on the ranch I live on. How many are you talking about? I think they charge $5 each but they have to have enough to process to make it worth setting up the equipment.

I have not seen her posting in a while, probably just as busy as I am, but I know that Carrie( whitemountainranch) in Jamul used to process herself. She has also given some processing classes in the past to some members here

[@=/u/374556/WFF2]@WFF2[/@] are you a breeder? Or just a collector of cool breeds?

I do hatch the eggs and sell the chicks but it is just a hobby (as defined by the IRS).  I lose too much money to be considered a business and tax deductible.:idunno

I hear you!! :hugs
Not sure many actually make any money with chickens
