Hi everyone! I was just out at Lake Murray and I don't know if any of you remember Tom the black muscovy duck? I don't think he's well. His chest looks caved, he's lost weight and one of his eyes had a large amount of discharge. I am not completely sure if he'll make it through the nasty weather we're going to have. But, he is active and hungry, so that might be a good sign.
Whenever I feed him, he spills so much seed. He uses his tongue to "sift" through the birdseed to find what he likes. Problem is that I want to feed the other ducks, too, so I can't let him sift through all of it. I also gave him some mealworms. Nobody was feeding the ducks today and I don't think anyone's going to be there to feed them tomorrow or Sunday, either because of the weather. So, they're going to be very hungry unless they find a lot of snails and worms washed up in the rain.
