Just wondering if anyone is interested in trades 2 hens for two ducks?

The black one is a male, the white one is a Pekin duck that lays daily, the last time it missed a day was 3 weeks ago.

Tigerrrrrrrrlilly, Hopefully Cari will answer but I thought I may be of help. I have purchased nursery pots at Home Dept. You may want to try another store and or ask because they do carry them. The HD by me has them outside w/ the other plastic planters, they are not with the ceramic ones. Armstrong's sells nursery pots too. I wish I knew because I have tons. A friend of mine runs a nursery and I take what I can use. I prefer squat pots for orchids. I do not like them super deep so the squat ones work out great. Good Luck!

Hmm good question! We have been collecting them over the years... my neighbor will sell me some occasionally, and I got lucky and got a few huge stacks from the recycle center!

If you only need a few, let me know what size and I can see if I have something around here that will work for you.

Also, I was going to ask about the orchids we got... Should they be planted in bark or soil or an orchid mix; what's best for them? Squat or deep pot?

Thanks!

I am far from being an expert on orchids. I am surprised that I even grow them since I am into edibles but I just could not resist the beauty of them. I would repot the ones I have been given as gifts when they outgrew their pots. I think they are easy and regular nursery pots are fine, I just prefer the squat pots. I planted the orchids Al generously gave us in a mix of ORCHID MIX AND ORCHID BARK. I mix Greenhouse Mini Mulch Orchid bark w/ LGM Orchid Mix together. I place the mixture in the pot and then the orchid and then more of the mixture. I then top off w/ the larger Orchid Bark that looks more like the stuff they use on pathways. I hope that helps.

Knock kneed hen - I took my camera but left it in the car. I don't think anyone took pictures. It was a hot day. I wish I had seen the cup cakes before some of the icing melted. They were so cute with chickens and ducks and fried eggs on top. You'll have to come next time. Everyone was so nice. The kids were so cute and well behaved and Duck duck is really a special duck. Tigerrrrlily really worked hard to put it all together.

Aww, thanks for the compliments, that's sweet! Naomi (SweetViolet) worked even harder than I though! I give her the credit! And Cari (PureSnowChic) found the best place to have it. Everyone was great, I would love to do it monthly, it was really nice and fun to talk about life and chickens etc.

So I found some nursery pots... I just bought a few because I felt completely goofy being there. I went to "Santee Hydroponics" because I saw online they had them for 50cents. Well it was hilarious when I started asking about orchid and banana plants and the guys couldn't really help me - and just gave me a lot of funny looks and smirks. They made an effort to help at least but they were all apparently just into growing marijuana (and nothing else probably). I was sort of just laughing at myself with them. At least I found some! After I thought to myself, why didn't I just try Lowes?!
