San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

I'm so sorry Stella is not doing well... this is the toughest part of being animal lover/owner/caretaker - knowing when it's time to say goodbye. This stuff is *so* difficult!

<--- from me, too!

On a side note: aren't most hatchery birds vaccinated for Marek's? Is there anything that Michelle can do to protect the rest of her chickens at this point?

Nope! That's a myth! You have to ask AND pay for a bird to be Marek's vaccinated and most feed stores DO NOT add that extra on.

Sorry to hear she is not doing well!

Have you tried lots and lots of water and food, I had a bantam that I thought had neuro problems and he ended up being dehydrated! I think he got stepped on and then couldn't reach the water!

Michelle, you and Stella are in my prayers.

So sorry to hear about that, but with Marek 's, I am not experienced (Thank God).

I wish you all the strength you need in this difficult situation to do the right thing. Listen to your heart......

This morning Stella is looking strong, standing upright, and getting back to her sassy self. Thank you everyone for your encouragement and compassion, helping me through my first scary sick chicken episode and Tammy for the midnight run with your natural remedies basket

What a relief!! I've been on pins and needles, waiting for an update, but afraid to ask. Michelle- I'd love to hear all you did to help your bird, in case I should ever be in that situation.

Tammy- you are the best!!

Oh yes!!! What great news!

I also would love to know what helped Stella. It sounds like we should all have one of these remedy kits on hand!
