She's all over me tonight. DD is cuddling her momentarily so I can type. She's covered my computer in chick starter. My keyboard is going to need some serious vaccuuming! Its never going to work the same...

Yes, that's her food bowl. She got hungry while typing. And of course she had to spread the wealth...

I'd just like to express my sincere gratefulness to everyone who responded to my pleas for help and had ideas of what might be wrong, what I might do to help, and IF and when necessary, how I might ease the suffering. I am obviously new to chickens and birds as well. Have had quite a bit of experience with dogs, and have had my share of the agonizing decision of when to put a pet down. Please don't rush to judge me, and assume the worst. It's hard to express everything accurately in email or a forum like this - perhaps in trying to be concise some details were left out. In any case, I hope the emphasis or moral of the story is what an AMAZING group of people there are here, ready & willing to support a virtual stranger in distress. I am truly humbled.

We may never know what was really wrong with Stella, but hopefully some of us have learned what to have on hand in case of an emergency, and also what options you have if all else fails. Thank you for being there, and listening. (BTW, in comparison I received only one response on the BYC Emergency forum

Michelle, no judgments here. I was agonizing with you the whole way. I pictured my sweet SLW Raquel in place of your little Stella, and I would not have known what to do. I think they are about the same age, and look very much alike. I had chicken nightmares all night! Not kidding....
I was so relieved to hear your update this morning. I saw Tammy's post last night, and was SOOOO hoping that she would get a hold of you, and that she'd have the magical remedy and all would be okay...

All that matters is that your chickie is okay now.
