Yes, I weigh her every few days.... I want to make sure she's growing. Its hard to tell with pee wees.

Yeah, we brought our two 4 month old OEGB roos in for a blow-dry earlier today. They spent their first night outside Sat night, then Sun night it rains, and its cold, and what do they do? Well, stand right next to the screen door, where the rain can come in if it blows sideways, LOL. Don't worry, they weren't in the rain at night, they were locked up tight in their cabin. It was only after I let them out of their cabin in the morning that they decided to stand in the rain. I thought they'd have the sense to hang out on the perches, or on top of their cabin where its dry like the other chickens...but no. I overestimated my roosters. LOL. So we dried them off, warmed them up, then put them back out. Fortunately, they stayed dry until it was time to put them away tonight. Silly boys....

PS: I posted some pics on the San Diego chickens site today of my "scratch bandits".

Thanks Cara and everyone for the nice comments. I think Stella may have just eaten something bad and was having a tough time fighting the battle. (could be a bad plant, moldy food, a mushroom, a venemous spider or scorpion, a maggot, something containing chemicals, something she is allergic to or one of a gazillion other possibilities)

Cara- I had a great time too, I wish I had your will power! LOL Debbie was interesting and very enthusiastic about ALOT of things is all! I'm ok with that, I've got plenty of patience for chatterboxes and am one myself sometimes.
I could talk all day about emergency care and different herbs, vitamins and such but it would probably get quite boring after a while, unless you are in a situation where you need to know. I am working on my website, I will just have to dedicate a page and discussion about what to do in those situations for you guys and just be here to try to answer questions from time to time. I don't know everything but I do seem to have a knack for diagnosing and healing living things...just not plants so much! (well... only orchids LOL).

I planted the 2 plants in pots and so far they are still alive.

Albert is doing great. It took him a little while to warm up to the other silkies, he enjoyed starting little fights for a bit but now he just hangs out with the others and even sleeps in the big pile of fluff with them. He even gets along well with my other silkie roo now, they just had to work out who was boss - Albert lol. He wasn't mean or hurting anyone.
He does like to dance around the girls, chase my seramas around and spar with the boys for entertainment, not really aggressively but more like he is just being a clown. He spends most of the day just scratching around in my yard looking for bugs and relaxing in the sun watching over the others.

Tammy, thanks for the news. I did not dislike Albert but since his would be mate wasn't accepting of him...............well I AM glad that he is having a good time there with the others. Sassy, the girlSG is very quirky . Sometimes I think that she doesn't mind being alone but since she was fostering the chicks, she will not leave them and be happy about it. I don't know what to do with her since she does single out a few of the chicks and pecks them. I can tell it is not good because the chicks get upset and very noisy. Soon they will be big enough to either avoid her or give it back to her.

I am sure that the Iris will grow nicely for you.

That's odd about the chicks. Does she not like a certain color? I've had that happen before. I also have a hen that prefers to be alone, just like people they each have there own personalities and some just like to be left alone I guess.
Albert is quite feisty, but I love that about him. He doesn't do any damage and it's funny to watch him go around to everyone showing off like he is the big boss. My silkie hen "NoNo" is alot like him and will go around to each chicken and growl at them when she is in a mood. She likes Albert so I'm sure there will be a day when I will have some feisty little SGs running around.
My Jungle Fowl roo is really the big boss around here, but he stays locked up with his hens when any of my other chickens are out. Albert likes to tease him through the fence and get him riled up, if the Jungle roo (Rocket) jumps on the fence, Albert jumps about 3 feet in the air startled, then runs away scared. LOL

Yes she does prefer the dark chicks. The ones that I witnessed being abused were white and the ones that gather around her the most are black, brown and copper colored.

I am looking forward to the time when you can post pictures of the baby SGs, maybe next year haha

Oh my gosh, I am so sorry you and Stella has such a scary time! And so grateful all is well. Do post what all you used and in what doses. I am so new and not yet had any problems, but would love to be prepared. Hoping for only good things to come for you all!!
