Hi Anke,

Thanks for your hospitality, nice meeting husband, chickens and mealworms,
you will have to specially order size 16 booties next time for Biosec.
Will see you at meet up. I will bring some great beans!

Having this beautiful sunny weather right now, my mealworms are thriving very well. As Cari said, I will bring some. Please PM or Email me on how many you would like, so I can count them out fresh out of my breeding bins.

Chef Glenn: Thank You for stopping by at our house this week. Your coffee IS THE BEST OF THE WEST!!! Will get more on Saturday (might have a new favorite .......)

Cari- your chicks are adorable!! Nice set up too, looks secure!

I have another coop project this week. I'm not satisfied with how my set up is working. I think I'm going to convert a shady covered patio into a coop for my big girls. It will be cooler for them, and more spacious, and further away from my neighbors. My hens are really loud, and they seem to get really hot in their current coop. I think I could modify the old one to suit the bantams well.

I've missed a lot - I'm so sorry to hear so much sad news! I hope that Cara finds a new place quickly, and that certain husbands come around soon...

I had some sadness here yesterday... my little Sultan Helen wasn't in the coop at lock down last night. My older son and I went through every inch of yard three times with bright LED flashlights, and we couldn't find her. Since she has such a hard time seeing where she's going, I was really worried. I found feathers everywhere this morning, scattered all over the horse pasture/arena. This has not been a good run for me lately!

In happier news, my farrier took one of my two roosters on Saturday, and that has been an exceptionally nice change. There's no more fighting, no more excessive crowing, etc. Much, much better.

My broody is still going strong. Tomorrow should be Day 20, so I'm kind of cautiously optimistic for her. We'll see if anything hatches, and then I'll make a quick decision on whether or not to add a few more. Speaking of which:

PHAGE: when are you supposed to hatch your blue eggers? If this works out, I was thinking I could drive down to where you are on Wednesday, and possibly pick up chicks then. Do you think it would be better to introduce new chicks sooner than Saturday at the meet-up? I have a few more potential double yolkers for you, too.

Glenn - my son has size 16 feet, too...

Cari - your new babies look so happy in their spacious new coop! Well done!

Anke - I could certainly use some mealworms. I will PM you a number.

Knock Kneed - glad you're feeling better! I've had a pesky sinus thing that just won't leave me... ugh. Let me know when you're heading down to pick up your order from Cari... If you have room for my order, I'd gladly supplement your gas money!

Dana

Glenn: Yeah, more good coffee on Saturday............

Will certainly check on size 16 booties

for next time and of course if Dana comes over with her son........ I guess these tiny ones I had would not even fit a Serama....... Sorry about me being paranoid with bio-security.

Dana: Your PM has been answered. Good luck with your hatch. Day 20? Are you sure that there are no babies yet? Out of my own experience baby chicks under a hen often times hatch a day early...... Get your camera ready.....
So sorry to hear about your Sultan. Any idea on what predator got her to prevent future attacks?

I am looking forward to Saturday, hopefully the weather will be better than today.

It looks like I'll be going to Norco on the 30th after all! I have room to take things up but will have NO room to bring things back as I will be transporting dogs. I'm in Julian, so it's not real convenient for most of you, but I wanted to put it out there. PM me if you want me to bring something up for you. Has anyone heard how many will be attending the Norco meet-up?

My d'Uccles have started laying. What adorable little eggs!! Almost hate to crack em open.

Yes! It sure was ugly today! The sun never came out here. My little 4 week old chicks stayed outside all day, but they were sure happy to come inside tonight! I let them have the heat lamp for a couple hours to warm their little bones. They are so stinkin' cute!! I'm gonna miss them when they are gone

My dd's have named most of them. I told them they could keep one, but we had to sell the rest. Last week they said they would keep "Jacob". Little did I know, they changed all the chicks' names to "Jacob" LOL... Smart kids!!
