I'll start it tomorrow and probably get any wood I need to finish it, and the fencing; then we can work more on it Wednesday... hopefully it will be done Wednesday or Thursday!

Cari - send me an invoice when you have it. Do you want me to PayPal you ahead of time?

I am so excited... I have PEEPING!!! Was just out feeding my horses, so I got to spend some time with my broody girl Missy. (She's got a nice set-up in my feed/tack room.) I noticed that she had changed positions twice today, so I was "chatting" with her about that. I went on and started getting dinner buckets ready when I heard Missy making some low noises. I was very quiet, and then I heard the peeping. Oh my Lord, what a sweet sound! After last night's rotten events, the sound of new life was very welcome. I can't wait to see what she's hiding under there!

Hey Cari,

Ditto on the invoice, good for you! thanks, your hard work is very much appreciated.

You bet YEAY! for BROODIES!! If anyone ever wants to know the concept of FOCUS, just watch a couple
of these broodies for awhile. AMAZING!

I now have one Japanaese Mama warming 6 healthy chicks, one not so healthy, and 3 not pipping eggs.
Four of the chicks are Serama, 3 are Blacktail Whites.

A Serama Mama on 2 healthy (one black, one white chick) 4 eggs starting to pip. I just gotta work
on getting these eggs started at the same time, the Serama Mamas don't make it easier,
(they like to brood together but keep switching eggs back and forth!)
I am not the greatest for labeling.
I may try to bring some of my older chicks to Lake Murray if there is interest
It is pretty cool up here on Palomar so I turned on heat lamp in work shop where all the Mamas are,
(they don't seem to mind!)

Be well everyone!

Spent all day working in the yard, and still not quite done...

I got most of the broiler coop built, but I am short 3 pieces of plywood and wanted to see if anyone had some extra junk/ trash ones laying around they wanted to get rid of?

Got the shipment date for the feeds and it will be here Friday. My BF and I will pick up Friday afternoon and then drive to Lake Murray Sat morning.

Thanks everyone!

There were two chicks in the front of the nest box when I popped in - very cute, very fluffy, very active. (They looked like classic EEs to my untrained eyes.) By the time I ran back to the house to grab the camera, Missy had hidden them back behind her.

I did get this picture... if you look very carefully, you can see one chick poking its head out on the bottom left. I did see some broken brown shell, so maybe Missy's own egg hatched, too? Time will tell! I will NOT go out there without my camera again!
