San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Thanks for the get together all..... Got to put some faces with their Handles.....LOL.

Cari thanks for the Guinea... He Chii d a little through the parking lot but once settled in the car he took to riding in the front seat like he has done it all his life. There was one point where the sun was making him hot and I turned the AC on a little. He blinked a little and took a short nap. LOL.... then he preened and looked around a little.... Mostly slept the whole way up to the house. I like my little rubber door mat.... the rubber bristles kept the poo away from him. 2.99 at Walmart.

I put him in a larger cage with his own food and automatic waterer within the coop so all the other guineas could meet him. OMG... too funny... first they all rubber necked and hopped on top of the cage to look down on him. My males fluffed up and ran about on all the high objects Perch Trash can cage..... just to show off their feathers.... Then there was a session with Miss Peggy of "I bite you""" no I bite YOU"" through the bars.... Oh my can he fluff them feathers up high in the back. When I left he was macking down on his food with his back turned to the rest and the rest were rummaging for Millet. I put a piece of plywood on top of the cage so the mob couldnt get up to stare at him and eventually crap on him too....LOL. It will be good. The cage will be comfortable for him for about a week.... Then we will do a test run.

I might call him Mr. Piedy.... still toying with names. The others are: Miss Peggy, Miss Violet, Miss Pearl, Big Bob, Little Bob, and PeeWee.

Another great meet-up, even though I only was able to stay a short time. Cari and Miriam, thank you so much for the beautiful new babies (yes, I am truly an addict). Those poor chicks rode from Lake Murray to Escondido, went out to lunch at the Lake Wohlford Cafe (well, they waited in the car), went to the feed store and the gun store, and finally made it home to El Cajon. They are snuggled into their respective brooders and appear to be very comfy. I finally may get blue/green eggs!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay

Anke, everyone went nuts over the mealworms, as usual. I hope this helps my homely moulters. Enjoyed seeing you all, but I really need to stop bringing home chickens from these Meet-ups.....

It was fun seeing everyone today. Next time I'll bring name tags. . . How did I miss Hatching Fever?????!!

I will enjoy all my goodies that you all take the time to can and prepare since I don't do ANY of that!! I
appreciate getting home made goods.

It wasn't a big turn out, but I'm glad I made the trip down. It was a nice way to spend a relaxing afternoon with
friends.

@ Perchie, Either Miss Peggy or Big Bob? Is there an identity crisis there?

Awww thank you for letting me know. I am glad he is doing good. I hope he integrates well with the others. He will probably be a lot happier around other guineas instead of chickens; they used to chase him away from his food. I'm glad he will get a good home and I love the name Mr. Piedy.

Mr. Piedy it is.... LOL. I know it will be unrealistic to name more as they come along but you know.... as long as I can visually ID them why not. This group is getting banded for sure.
