YES! My yard looks like someone had a HUGE down pillow fight! I cannot believe just how many feathers are EVERYWHERE!!!

I forgot to answer this... and the answer is: I'm not sure.

I got her as an older (but not yet laying) pullet, and I never wrote down (or even asked about) her hatch date. I usually keep meticulous records previously, too.

I was asking because I've got young cuckoo marans pullets as well and am trying to figure out when they'll start laying. Mine haven't even started with wattles and comb, though. They're only about 17weeks old - but getting huge!

sorry about the mix-up.

i know what you mean about molting. it is a bit alarming at first. i am feverishly collecting the feathers; there's got to be something i can do with them.

I should take a photo of her; I didn't think she looked ready according to her comb and redness... if I hadn't seen her lay that egg, I think I'd still be in denial.

I'd love to see a photo...because right now I'm thinking, uh oh, I need to move 'build nesting boxes' up on my priority list...

I wish I had the ability to post pics of mine right now. You have a couple there that look just like one that I have. It's turning out dark with flecks of white and brown. You also have some that look like they'll turn out to be grey like my beauty. I wonder what color the chicks in the first pic far left and far right up front will turn into. I really hope I get some of the mille fleur ones. Looks like you're going to have a nice variety (which means I will too!). I'm so excited!!!
