San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Isn't that Maya a sweetie? Such a gentle giant!

I'm still trying to wrestle my December weekends... I'd love to have a meet-up, though! As for another group order, I don't need a ton of MM, but I'm almost out of BOSS and I need to order oats. Please let me know if we decide to order something this month, and I'll be in.

I hope everyone's December is off to a great start! Post some chick pics, would you?

Thanks Paulo! Glad you guys could make it up! Glad your kids had fun; they are adorable!

It's always fun to have someone around to "talk chickens" with.... we always joke that "normal" people don't get us chicken people!

Hope you can make it to the next chicken meet-up, I think you guys would enjoy it!

Thanks!

LOL Dana, I was going to say if anyone DOESN'T need food it would probably be you! I'm surprised I was able to fit all your bags in my truck!

I only need like 1 or two bags any way, so I am thinking we will probably wait until next month... I haven't even come close to having enough people contact me for a full pallet.... maybe better to wait until everyone needs some.

I will post some baby chick pictures tonight when I get home. I hatched an Olive Egger from Nancy's favorite chicken Blondie, but unfortunately it turned out to be a roo.... very sweet and friendly and curious though! Too cute- too bad it wasn't a pullet!!!

The Victorville show was really nice. Worth the drive. It was fun seeing all the different breeds in person. Wow! So many cool birds!! It was tempting to come home with something but I showed great restraint.

Are you sure? Maybe it is in disguise. Blondie went into molt right after I had been to your place. She just started laying last Thursday. I would be hard pressed to tell who the father is because I have way too many right now. I am kind of surprised that Blondie's egg hatched because she is a roo hater. She chases them away. Surprised that one of them got her. Did any of the others hatch? What did they turn out looking like?

I have a mutt that the 5 broodies hatched. They only ended up hatching 4 chicks and it was a blast to watch. As my dumb luck would have it, I think and I am pretty sure that I got 3 roos and 1 pullet. The 1 pullet is gorgeous. Guessing her mom is a EE and her dad is the Black Copper Maran that has been trying to dominate me. I am of course going to keep her.

The ladies have pretty much gone on vacation. If I did not get the 4 from you, I would not have any eggs to eat at all. Those ladies are the only ones pulling their weight around here. Well, Blondie just started pulling her weight, she has been a freeloader for weeks.
