Don't feel guilty. We were already having issues with him before and I was hoping the girls would be a help. The girls are doing great, btw. They flock with my boys all the time and they are a very happy foursome.Awww, poor Beaker. I feel guilty now because he started having problems when you brought home the girls. He's a really pretty drake. I think he would be happy with anyone who has Muscovy hens.
How are the girls, by the way? I still think of all three of them, especially the hurt one that Knocked Kneed Hen picked up. Btw, I was up in Julian last weekend.
Oops, I edited it because Knock Kneed Hen was the one who picked the injured girl up, sorry!
Awesome.... I have a DH that is starting the newest coop project this next weekend. Looooove the potential. Haaaaaaate the length of time it takes. Ugh.I am in the market for a coop if anyone is selling...... Lol
Found this on CL this am:I am in the market for a coop if anyone is selling...... Lol
Oh Dana,Well... I had saved up 16 eggs from my lovely new Blue Copper and Splash Copper Marans hens. I was waiting on my Blue Isbar eggs to show up, and then I was cranking up the incubator to happiness! Alex (my four year old) had other plans. Last night he found the egg turner and dropped the eggs one by one on to the tile floor. (Can you believe most of the yolks didn't break?) I salvaged six of them, and moved the turner way up high on top of the dryer. (It is higher than usual as it sits on a drawer riser.) This morning Alex found the cord and dropped four more eggs, so now I'm down to TWO. Two sad little eggs. I really don't think they're going to be fertile any longer, as they aren't with a rooster now. Sigh.
Plan B is to wait for my Blue Copper or Black Copper Cockerel to grow up a bit more and try again. Bummer.
