Well, why I am disappointed our snow trip has been cancelled for next weekend....I can now come to the meet up!!!!!! I am so excited!! I have nothing to bring (except two children who could be for sale depending on how they act that day), but have been wanting to flush out my egg rainbow. I currently have brown, light brown, buff and more light brown

. I originally chose my chicks for eye candy in the corral...now I want the eye candy in the fridge I guess!!

Yay!

I am excited to go to the San Diego BYC meet up next Sunday. I am looking forward to meeting some fellow BYCers, especially the ones I have interacted with in this thread.

The meet up is Saturday from 10 to 2 NOT Sunday!
I will bring my two kids as well, one is 4 and the other one is 11 months. Last meet up Diego had a blast playing with your little girl Renee. She is a cutie pie!

I'm an idiot. We had a chick hatch under the broody with unabsorbed yolk (this happened to a chick once before, but she was incubator hatched and brooded inside). I didn't think about infection, and left the chick with mama. It seemed ok, eating & drinking. Yesterday I realized there was an infection and brought her inside; cleaned and applied ointment. The chick was still energetic but I had a bad feeling. This morning it is clear the chick won't make it. I have it in a towel on top of a heating pad in my lap, so at least it won't have to be alone. I'm so mad at myself for not realizing that OBVIOUSLY a nest outside would be bacteria central. Do I have a brain? I'm especially saddened because this was a chick from my favorite hen and very possibly the only egg of hers that will ever hatch.

Since my destiny is returning me to North AZ, I must make travel the 200 some miles to this meet up. I so love the land in north county and lived there in the 70s. from La Jolla to Del mar to Vista. It is indeed a country that the gods made for us here on earth.

I may not bring anything unless some one wants two two year old White Ameraucanas, dirty but pretty laying blue green eggs daily. Only I5 $ each ? I have bred them and have not yet layed offspring to take with me but no rooster and only am interested in mixes/EEs/or NN green egg layers.

And if there are any cream legbars ??????? Well I have been wanting those for some time so maybe I might need some ?? Blue egg layers that are sexable, what a good idea !
There will definately be cream legbars. I have eggs, newly hatched chicks and a few that are feathered out. I am looking forward the meet up too. See you in a few days! Wahoo!

I've been predator free for over a year but last night took its toll. I lost 16 layers, not good for business.... Something? we think Bobcat dug underneath our largest cage, evern though the wire was buried & curved inward. This animal was serious about getting in~!

My question to all of you...does anyone have 12 week or older (up to a year) pullets for sale. I'm looking for production birds. If so, PM me with details & price. Thanks in advance :)

I used cinder blocks buried below the wire. I dont have to worry about bobcats but they are very effective against dogs.

Sorry for your loss.

your not an idiot.Take from this something and remember this for the future.
