San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Anyone want a crop of free cream legbar boy chicks?
Had a bumper crop of boys hatch and I am totally out of brooder space..........
Their daddy is a sweetie.

Costco has (had) a great little coop for around $160 I think. Big enough for 3 or so regular sized girls. A friend of mine bought one and she loves it!
I was at Costco in Santee on Saturday and had them check all of the San Diego Stores there is zero in town or so the manager said theat checked.... Thats what happens when you take the "Truck" to costco.... You show up in a mini cooper i bet they would have had a dozen.....I wanted to buy two, next time, I haven't checked online yet.

That was my best Easter egg

I have anoather question on getting a egg selling license. I contacted the local CA egg guy for the state to get registered and he wants to do a site visit. That makes me kind of nervous, any idea what he will be looking for? I think my coop is pretty clean and nice, I rarely get a dirty egg and have poop boards under the roosts. I just want to make sure I know what to expect!!!

Thanks peeps!

That's odd. I sent in for my egg handlers licence and a month or so later they sent me out the license. There wasn't any site visit, in fact, no one even spoke to me! I wouldn't know what to expect, all I got was the package in the mail that had the licence and the egg grading manual.

I feel like I'm never correctly prepared for Costco! I did look online and didn't see anything. I will probably make my own for the chicks I'm brooding. I let them free range most of the days.

Hmmm I wonder if there is a difference between getting an egg Handlers license and an egg Sellers licence and if you need to have both in order to sell your own eggs. I read the regs about two years ago dont have my links but I do seem to remember there being a difference in requirements depending on Quantity that you are selling.

WHY do they make this so CONFUSING??? Or is it because I'm blond???

I'll take a look into what I inquired about because I am not sure the difference. I just want to sell eggs, thats all, at my property, to friends and neighbors. No one is concerned about grading, just good clean healthy eggs. My husband is a nervous nelly and wants me to go through the proper channels so we don't get sued if someone gets sick.....and I dont' even think having a license will prevent that.

anyhow, thanks...I'll check more into who and what I did???
