San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

WOW.  I wrote to the office of the city councilperson who initiated and passed the chicken ordinance in San Diego, Todd Gloria.  Within 2 hours I had a reply from a Senior Planner at the City.    I was right!  I can have my chickens!!

:ya :woot :celebrate :thumbsup Glad it worked out for you. Funny how the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.....

Thank goodness! I wonder what the zoning investigator's face is going to look like after he sees your email.

Good news Bad news....

Good news is Mom bailed me out on the well. And insisted that I NOT sell my PT Cruiser. Well is getting fixed on Friday.

I have done three trips up as of today bringing water to the horse goats and chickens. Because of my water delivery method I was unable to dispense water as far as the chicken coop. So Temporarily I let everyone out to drink. I blocked the door to the coop so the goats couldnt get in but the chickens could get out...

As of today I have one lone Guinea Female perched in the Athol Tree. They are all gone.... No more chickens... I blame myself but its done....

Not going to do chickens for now... At least not till I get a secure coop built that is spacious enough for chickens to be on lock down.

Sigh

you are an amazing lady. good will come your way

I have 4 incubators that will be on stand by. I need an excuse to do a "control" hatch of a few eggs from each of the breeds I haul across the pacific. just say the word and i will fill my apartment with the sound of whirring fans and clicking egg turners

Captain Hatcher to the rescue..... Complete with cape and flight goggles. Thanks OZ... I am going to take this opportunity to do a little deconstruction on the coop and move some Kennel panel walls. Maybe next spring....

deb
i will still be in the game next spring. hopefully I will be hatching for myself here in usa as well - I am praying the adoptions will be over by then. I will be looking for a chicken friendly neighborhood to call home

Hi everyone;) been in lurker mode. The heat is kicking my butt right now... I have had some losses across the board- all ages. Very tough. Keeping the poultry and livestock cool and watered and fed has just been harder. I feel your pain Deb :/ I am so sorry. Oz is right. We all have chickens for you when you're ready.
