San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Hello All!
My son got stuck with 12 cockerels. He ordered some bantam chicks and 12 big breed cockerels were included to keep the other chicks warm. The good thing is that it worked and everyone arrived alive and well. These cockerels are growing like weeds and we don't need them.....I'm hoping someone can offer a few dollars each to help pay for his feed and take them off his hands.
Can anyone tell us what kind they are? Rhode Islands? They are supposed to be purebred whatever they are. Most likely extra males from an egg laying breed....They were hatched 2/3, so are 15 days old in these pictures.

in the philippines I have steady buyers of 16 week old RIR cockerals at $30 each.

Here, its hard to give then away.

Its funny how we evolved to value different things

I do not think they are RIR, They do not have the dark brownish beak tips.

If they are growing fast... maybe a meat bird?

I have no idea, could be.....They are still here and eating and growing. Most of what we raise are little guys, so these look huge to me anyways! I'll post a new picture as they develop. If we have them long enough, (and we probably will!) we will know what they are eventually! Just might make it easier to "re-home" them if we were smarter about what they are!
Thanks for everyone's input!

Anybody here going to the meet up at Lake Elsinore?

From the desk at the Crazy H-Bar Ranch;
Suzie Cupp is making up some amazing name tags for the meet up. If you would a name tag(s), please let her know what you would like it to say. These badges will come in a plastic holder so we can use them for future meet ups. I think $1 each should cover the cost for the supplies to make these up. Of course donations are also welcome. I will be wearing mine!!! But it won't say Suzie!!!!
