Allison, I decided the Silkie Bantams were not for me and had wanted to sell them and let the money go to Tigerlilly since they were her eggs but since she had so many of them, I took them back. I plan on keeping the offspring of the BO but dragged her along for warmth.
I was pretty surprised to see the BO go at it w/ my chickens. Not sure if it was the BA or Black Sex Link but it got pretty ugly. But near the end of the day, they were all fine. I think they were a little scared of her and whenever she got close to the food, they let her have it. Should have seen her crop. Ah ya ya. They both ate everything in sight. They had tuna, boiled eggs, scratch and sprouted wheat berries and tons of mealworms.
With the Scruffy hens, I am right around 30. 14 chicks, 4 silkies, 1 BO offspring, and 14 so 33 chicks. Grand total of around 63
Yes, I think the RIR is going through a molt and she has lost alot of her feathers. I am sure she will be laying soon.
I do not think it is that hard to integrate. Everything should be fine.

Yeah, I heard you brought the chick. You'll have to post a pic for me. The RIR was my best layer, she'll get back on track. I've never seen either of those birds even peck another bird. They were low in their flock. I guess the BO has seen a window of opportunity and is giving it a shot. You can't blame her for trying!
How many birds do you have? I'm so fascinated with how many different kinds of birds that people keep. I wish you could throw any bird in a flock and they'd all live in harmony. But then, if it was that easy, we'd all be in trouble!!
