Go for the Ostrich egg, Miriam!!! That would look just awesome at our next meet-up. An Ostrich chick next to some Silkie chicks.......

Phage - I'll save 'em for you. Right now I have two potential doubles... do I just need to keep them refrigerated?

Thank you all again for the very nice sympathies. After my friend takes her chickens back home, I am most definitely looking forward to adding to my own personal flock. I guess I'll have to find a Georgia II?

Thank you!
Is there any particular type of chicken you would like? I have some nice ones just now. Maybe we could do a chick for egg swap? Now that is backwards

keeping the eggs cool (not too cold) is best, and turning them daily helps too.
Where do you live?

There's absolutely no need for any sort of trade for the eggs; I'm happy to contribute to your research! (Besides, one of them is really ugly...) I'll make sure I turn them daily.

I'm on the west end of Ramona, near Dos Picos Park. Are you familiar with the area? I do go down to Poway/RB quite a bit, too. Or my hubby works in Sorrento Mesa, near UTC.

I've been thinking a lot about what kinds of chickens I'd like to get. Maybe some more EEs or even a true Ameraucana. Maybe a Marans of some sort. Maybe a white egg layer. I do enjoy the colored eggs, but I'm pretty open. I think I'm better off with LF here, as mine truly free range all day long.

How about blue egger true ameraucanas?
Or some Australorps. They are meant to be super friendly and great layers.

Maybe I could pick them up from your Hubby on Monday?

I would LOVE to hatch an Ostrich or two. If I did would anyone be interested in adopting it/them???
