, you didn't ask, but I've got to say it. That rooster shouldn't be allowed to risk hurting another hen like that. He also shouldn't be allowed to reproduce. You
don't need genes like that being passed on.

@ Cari
: I've got to start seriously thinking about raising some meaties. DH served chicken tonight. When the kids asked for more, honestly, I felt like I was feeding them poison. . . and actually, probably was. . . Not a good feeling at all.
Have you thought about having a workshop, teaching some of us how to process? I'd be willing to pay of course.

There is a farm here in El Cajon that has classes on processing. I took Goat and Sheep husbandry there and they are very good folks. You can find them on Craigslist for San Diego. But feel free to PM me or Email what ever and I can pass on the information.

Not trying to knock and anyone and feel free to go there if you want, but myself and a few of my friends have been there and lets just say I was "less than satisfied" at what I saw and the way I was treated, PM me for more info if you want details.

I would be interested in attending - if only just to learn how to humanely "take care" of a chicken should the need arise. I too am happy to pay for the instruction.

Great! So that's two families... anyone else?

Oh and I wouldn't ask anyone to pay at all, be prepared to pluck and I'll be happy for the help!

Not a problem that's why I didn't post the name of the people.

I'll be at the fair on tuesday the 14th if anyone wants to meet up and see the birds together.

Also I read that if you buy tickets for tuesday at Albertson's they are only $3 each! Normal cost is $13 per person to get in so it's a great deal. San Diego Bird Breeders are on the schedule for that day so there should also be cage birds as well as poultry to see.

**had my date wrong!!!
