I think technically your supposed to refrigerate the processed chickens for a few days in the fridge to let the acids of rigor-mortis leave the flesh (SORRY for graphicididty)! I have never cooked one on the same day a butchering it. But I have heard of people who have and say it's fine. I am not opposed to it, HOWEVER, our BBQ is broken, so we wouldn't be able to unless someones wants to bring theirs!

25th it is then! What say everyone 11 am?

Hi Everyone, It has been awhile. Been really busy.

Some of you that I met last year at the first meet up will remember that I came to that meet up chicken less. And Egg less for that matter. Well, how a few months changes things.

These are the eggs from my ladies. Thought I would show them off. Enjoy!

Dana, YES! I got eggs from Halo here on BYC for a New Years hatch along. She was kind enough to ship eggs to me and it was my first time hatching eggs after a very long hiatus. She sent a shipment of eggs and only one was a blue egg. It hatched out and I always thought I was going to get a light green egg since her mom was a ee. I was so thrilled when I figured out she was laying olive colored eggs.

Oooh - that gives me hope for one of my young EE crosses... she does have a tight pea comb, and is colored quite similarly to your girl. (Well, at the teenage stage, anyway. She was a typical chipmunk EE-looking chick.) Here's hoping!

So glad you're back in the egg-laying game!

Super pictures Nancy - love the single yellow chick among the black - would make a great card - never see many chicken cards at the store......

Anyway - off to the fair today - my daughter shows the horse, so should be fun!
