San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Yeah I am hardly getting any eggs right now either. EE pen has 6 girls, I got 2 eggs. Ameraucana pen has 8 girls and I got no eggs. And My broiler pen has about 4 laying and none from it either. I'm pretty sure it's just the weather.

Five out of ten! Maybe my broody Australorps have decided they need to make it up to me now.

I'm sorry to hear that I'm not the only one who's low on eggs (except for SunnyCalifornia)!! As these are only my 2nd set of hens I only have my barred rocks to compare to & they only slacked off a little in the cold, dark Maine winter.

As for the crowing hen problem, I haven't found a suitable rooster poster yet & the real thing isn't going to work in my urban location but I have been waking up to poke my head into the coop before they come down off their roosts and declare, " I am the alpha chicken".

It's worked 2 mornings in a row? When the element of surprise (or shock?) has worn off I might try the rooster recording idea so thanks tigerrrrrrrlilly.

Have fun at the Meet Up, unfortunately, I'll be out of town next weekend so will miss it

That's exactly what happened to me! I have 14 layers, 0-2 eggs per day so took advantage and dewormed, then shot up to 4-7 a day. Still low but better than it was!

If the chickens have worms that can decrease the egg production as well. Worth a try if you haven't done it recently.

Ok guys, almost time to place the Modesto Order...

We almost have 2 full pallets, so PLEASE let me know if anyone wants to add anything else so we can get these filled up to 100 bags.

And as always I will be accepting donations for time/ gas/ invoices/ etc...

Thank you!!!
