San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

You ought to be able to find the dog run on CL free. They do come up from time to time, but you have to act quick!

I really like the bottom one too.

My DH said to get rid of the trailer

He didn't like it once it was here. Sooooooooo, I sold it, made a profit off it and
can have someone build me a little shedrow building to "match" the other outbuildings. I'm glad though because the
guy that bought it is going to restore it. Happy ending for all!

That's great you made some $$$ on the trailer! Those babies are cute, cute, cute! Isn't Flower hatching some SWHs, too?

It is pouring here. (Just thought I'd throw that out there.)

My roo issues seem to have mellowed out a bit, which is good - everybody's piled in the coop today with the nasty rains.

I haven't had great luck with finding screaming deals on Craigslist. We've done well with re-purposing things we had here in our coop/run expansion, and that has certainly saved money.

You may have heard me talk about Swedish Flowers but no I am not hatching anything until springtime. I have ruled out have a brood crate inside during the winter.

That bottom one is FABULOUS Cari!!
Do you have any sort of floor /building plans for something like that?

I don't have any at the moment; my bf is a contractor so I give him a picture and he makes it.

He's VERY handy and has built all kinds of things for me. We just don't want to invest being at a rental and all, we want to wait until we have our own place and then build more permanent structures.

Can't wait!

If you are looking for plans though I'm sure I could scrounge some up!! Just LMK!

You know Cari You could do the structures on skids. Anything about twelve feet long and eight feet wide can be moved on a flatbed all in one piece. Just plan on some forklift pads in the center of gravity. You could even dual purpose them and design them for moving containers. Like a POD. line the bottom with card board and load em up.

just a couple of thoughts

I think a few of us may be getting swedish flower hens. I have a bunch of eggs looking great in the bator right now. SOOO excited.

We also ordered some chicks from GFF a long time ago. They are due to arrive mid November

It looks like San Diego will become a SFH "hub"

I have a problem you guys may be able to help with .....
DH wants the chicks OUT of the garage. The dander is driving him nuts. Very fair.
At least he is not totally banning the chicks/chickens.

BUT I need a small decent looking shed ASAP. Rubbermaid or the like would be fine as long as it was tall enough to stand in and 5x5 or a bit bigger. Nothing on CL (it all sells in microseconds)

Please let me know if you hear of something like that for sale.
