Cari, The rescue I volunteer with gets calls all the time with people wanted to unload their kennels. I have seen them on CL too. I just did not think I could put a whole lot in one of those and passed on the ones that came my way.

I Love the second picture. I like the way that it enclosed.

I don't have any at the moment; my bf is a contractor so I give him a picture and he makes it.

He's VERY handy and has built all kinds of things for me. We just don't want to invest being at a rental and all, we want to wait until we have our own place and then build more permanent structures.

Can't wait!

If you are looking for plans though I'm sure I could scrounge some up!! Just LMK!

You know Cari You could do the structures on skids. Anything about twelve feet long and eight feet wide can be moved on a flatbed all in one piece. Just plan on some forklift pads in the center of gravity. You could even dual purpose them and design them for moving containers. Like a POD. line the bottom with card board and load em up.

just a couple of thoughts

Great idea, only problem is the property we're on is VERY hilly and almost impossible to find flat spots, there is no way I'd be able to get a trailer up to where it would need to go.

Too expensive with shipping and too small. They work great though for my shed and baby coop, but for turkeys I need something as big as I can find, I'm hoping to find something in the 8' x 12' or 8' x 15' range.

Last time I bought a twelve foot dog kennel panel was at Campo hardware and feed. I would buy two at a time and they just fit in my pickup with a red flag. I been by there lately and they only bring them in when someone orders one. So I have no idea what they would cost. But as I remember it the kennel panels at HOme Depot at the time were running around 50 bucks the 12 footer was about 3/4 the cost of two from home Depot.

Oh and also Lowes sells a ten by ten kennel I forgot. It breaks down flat too. If you wanted to extend it out you simply buy a couple of six foot regular kennel panels and fasten them in with kennel clamps. Then youd have a ten by sixteen. The beauty of using the panels is when you dont need them you can break them down and reconfigure them for something else....

How many turkeys are you raising?

I would love for anyone that comes across a free one to snag it for me!

I look on Craigslist all the time, I guess I just have bad luck when it comes to finding things (and getting them before they're gone).

I was looking on Home Depot and it looks like they are still about $300... too expensive new, but if I could find some free or very cheap that would be great!

I am liking the idea of a kennel because as you said I can add or remove panels as needed AND they will be able to be broken down to get them in my truck, AND it won't be hard to move them around the hills here... The more I think about it the more I like this idea.

Right now I have 4 turkeys, but in the spring I have 15 on the way.

I should have put the link, I was referring to one of these: http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/for/2685845433.html

ETA
: I get it now, you're more or less looking for the pen, not the coop at the moment. You might check with The Livery in Ramona. They sell used panels.

Kind of an "eggciting" day around here... I got TWO green eggs. One is definitely a pullet egg, and is a beautiful green. I have three theories:

1. My EE laid twice in one day. (Not likely; the eggs are very different.)

2. One of my Ameraucana pullets started laying (they are 28 weeks), but is laying green.

3. My homebred EE x Speckled Sussex pullet (also 28 weeks) got her mama's blue gene, and is a true EE! She does have a peacomb, so ???

I need a camera out there. Sigh.
