San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Oh they look like goof balls. Are you coming to the meet up? If you are I have space for them. And yes I want em for pets. They will have to live with juggling walls in the coop for a while but I have space planned for some Silkeys. Do you think they would get along even after they are fully grown? Are they large fowl or bantam not that it matters.

Last chance if anyone wants one or both of these silkie boys:

Sparkle

Truffle

They're approximately 5 1/2 months old and were supposed to be girls. The boys are very sweet but I'm down to 9 girls who are just starting to lay so I'm rehoming the boys.
Please let me know as soon as possible - I'm not looking for any money, just a good home.
Thanks.

I'm coming to the meet up (can't wait to meet everyone), they get along fine now (can't say about the future but would hope they'll still get along), and yes, they're goof balls :) The splash is bigger than the black, but both are small. Would be really glad to give them to a BYCer -

If they have not been mixed with any other breed they should be Bantam because Silkies are a bantam only breed. Having said that I have a Blue Silkie rooster who was raised by a Silkie Breed in Pa which seems larger than a regular Silkie so I am wondering if some other breed was introduced some where far back to add the blue gene. However my Rooster Victor is perfectly balanced in form and color despite his size. Silkies are very interesting chickens. I have not had many but think every flock should have a few to keep for broodies and amusement. They say that males get along fine with each other and some even have sat on eggs as a broody when the brood was abandoned by a hen.

Thanks Flower its good to know. I am going to need to build a little huddle coop for them aren't I .... Just because of the change in climate. I think I may take a dog crate and fix them up a space with the windows covered. for drafts. When I am done they will be with the rest of the chickens. Or the sweet ones anyway.

Hey everyone! Anyone want to go in on an order of Ameraucanas from John Bhlem? I really don't think I want to order $200 worth just for myself. I am thinking I want about 12-16 chicks. I want to order 8 LF Lavender and *8 bantam lavender. The minimum order is 25, so anyone else want some? The LF colors are: Black, Buff, lavender (2) left, silver, wheaten. Bantam: buff, lavender(7 left)silver. He also has Chanteclers. Anyone interested, check out the order page at chick hatcher, and let me know how many and what colors you want.

Gawd this is soo tempting but I have shot my wad for the year on chick purchases. Sigh. John Bhlem and Whitmore farms were top on my list last year..... Maybe one day.

Hi! Did any of those NN eggs hatch out? Have you added any other bantam NN's to your flock? I'd like to ideally add one lavender NN pullet and 1 blue NN pullet (both bantams) to my little NN bantam flock.

Are you going to make it to the meet up? Love to see you there. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/618432/san-diego-meetup-feb-25-2012#post_8238797

RH ranch when I looked at the page Chicks by John Blem I some how remember the min for bantam is 30. 25 is for LF but I am not quite sure. Those prices are way over my budget although I could add on just two if you need them to get the correct total. Let me know if you do.
