San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Guys, I am looking to buy emu or ostrich eggs, and other LARGE eggs - geese, turkey etc. for imaging.

Any chicks that hatch could go back free to original supplier if they want them.

Just need the EGG PHASE.

Happy to drive some distance to pick up.

Please let me know if you have any for sale or know where they may be available. I think I saw some farmed ostriches or emus near the wild animal park.

does anybody have a full size ameraucana hen available for sale?

I have a roo that lost one of his hens lastnight.
She had sour crop and choked on her vomit.Ill never, ever encourage a chicken to vomit again.terrable thing to witness.

Im affraid the one left will be over worked.
I prefer black as that is what we have but any color will do.

Oh Renee, I'm so sorry about your hen. There are so many chicken ailments that I dread and fear.

I imagine Cari might have an Ameraucana

Yeah it sucks but one can only do what you think is right at the time.i ws massaging her crop to help move it along when she vomited.

cari and flower was the first i contacted to see if they had some.we will see if not i can put some of the free ranging ones in with him and his one hen.

i need to share something else.

allison has been such an inspiration with her coop building.I went and built a food bowl cover.im so proud of myself. The food is wet every morning and well i decided to do something about today and didnt even ask hubby to do it.

so they now have a dry food bowl and 2 nesting boxes all made by me.go me go me. i thought maybe the one was sick from eating spoiled wet food or something.i dont know can only speculate.
feels liberating, thanks allison for being so inspiring to me

I laugh at it but im so happy knowing i helped my chickens be more healthy and didnt have to ask hubby to do it for me.
im quit impressed with the nesting boxes.didnt do a lot to them but came up with the idea.used what we had laying around the place.

Here I came to post pics of what I've built so far and I find Renee's posts about being an inspiration to her.

It's my coop in a coop. I got the coop off of CL and added the window in front and put the pop door in back. I hope to get it all enclosed by the end of this weekend. My husband doesn't like the tin, but I wanted something other than brown T-111 to look at. Have to say, I love Simpson ties! This thing isn't going anywhere. It's mostly screwed and bolted together.
